Let me start at the beginning. When I was 17 years old my first husband and I purchased Bridget, a beautiful black standard poodle from a breeder in Los Angeles where we were living at the time. When we came back to Canada, she came with us. Of course I was smitten with the breed. Although the years went by, along with one divorce and living as a single mom, I had only one dream with regards to my next poodle. The seed had been sewn. I wanted to show and breed these magnificent dogs. I purchased Liza from Vesta's Standard Poodles owned by Caroline Keenan and Shirley Clark and I was on my way to fulfilling my dream.
In the very beginning I knew that I would always be a home raised breeder. I never wanted to keep more than seven at one time. This allows me to be close to all of them and have special times with each. The dogs live right in my home, sleep in our very large bedroom at night and are only denied access to our dinning room. Babies are born in the bedroom next to ours.
I show my own
dogs with the occasional use of professional handlers. I might add that I
am very fortunate in that my present husband Tony loves the dogs as much
as I do, and he is always willing and able to look after the crew when I
